Understanding and Working with Hoarding Behaviors

This presentation will discuss how empathy and empowerment work together to better engage the individual in the process of resolving safety issues in their home. Additionally, the importance of the collaborative approach and understanding roles and responsibilities within a multi-disciplinary team will be addressed.

Eileen’s presentation will help you …

  • Gain increased knowledge of the mental health aspect of Hoarding Disorder.
  • Better understand the benefits of a multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach to resolving hoarding cases.
  • Learn to objectively assess and develop effective collaborative plans.

About Eileen Dacey

Eileen Dacey graduated with a Master of Social Work with a specialization in mental health and addictions from Simmons College School of Social Work. At the North Shore Center for Hoarding and Cluttering Eileen has facilitated support groups for individuals struggling with hoarding behaviors, provided in-home psychotherapy, and managed crisis cases.

— Cancellation Policy —

In case of inclement weather, the NAPO-NE Board of Directors may cancel our monthly NAPO-NE business meeting in order to ensure safety. Should there be a snow emergency declared in the city of Waltham, MA, the President and the Treasurer will make a decision regarding the meeting no later than 2:00 pm that same day. The President will direct the website chair to reflect the change on the NAPO-New England website, will send out an email to the membership, and will notify the Boston/Waltham Embassy Suites of the meeting cancellation. Members should not call the Boston/Waltham Embassy Suites. Liaisons to Programming, Greeters, Associate Members, Facilitator, etc. will contact appropriate people to inform them of the cancellation.
