Organizing Tip: One Small Step at a time

‘All great achievements require time’. – Maya Angelou

Create the goal-

Breakdown  into manageable steps.

One task at a time, one box, one drawer, one shelf, one bookcase, one room.

One less piece of chocolate, one less cookie, 5 more minutes of swimming, walking or running.

Pat yourself on the back each time you follow through.  Hug yourself when you don’t.

It’s just one small step, one small task at a time.

Measuring Success

We all have a way of defining for ourselves what success means.  For some, it’s winning a competition, acing a test, getting a promotion, buying a house, performing for an audience.  For others, it may be going all day without a cigarette, being able to actually take a nap while baby sleeps, cleaning the house from top to bottom.

For many, success is measured in the acquisition of stuff.

If this resonates somewhere within you, ask yourself this:  how do you measure success?

Is it the amount of stuff you have?

Cleaning Appliances

Don’t worry if the weather isn’t quite cooperating with your spring cleaning plans.  You can still keep moving forward and whittle away some spring cleaning chores.  Get a start on some of the indoor chores now so that you have time to enjoy the good weather when it arrives! I’ve compiled a list of  my favorite “how to clean” instructions.  I prefer eco-friendly solutions, so if you are a Clorox lover, this post is not for you.

Let’s tackle the oven first.  Of all the eco-friendly choices out there, the use of baking soda is the most popular.  There are various methods of how to go about it, but my favorite is this easy process from Miss Thrifty.  The problem is getting the baking soda to work without building up and become too difficult to wipe out.  There is nothing more maddening then the impossible to clean out white paste.  I think boiling the water first helps to solve that problem as well as loosen some of grime.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Treat Your Car As You Do Your Home

I feel it is important to keep your car as clean as you do your home.  For many of us, our car is an extension of our home because we spend so much time in it.

  • Take the time to keep it orderly by removing trash daily and maintaining a schedule for cleaning and maintenance.
  • If car cleaning is not your thing, delegate to a professional detailer or hire a youngster or neighbor to do the work for you.
  • If you make it part of your routine when exiting the car to take all bottles, trash and bags from the day, you will be refreshed with a clean clutter free car each day!
